Why can’t I add an option in OptiView?

This error occurs when an option contract lacks sufficient market data, typically because there are no active bid and ask quotes, or bid and ask quotes that are not rationalizable with financial theory. OptiView requires valid pricing data to add and visualize an option.

Why this error occurs

  • The selected option contract has no active bid and ask quotes
  • The option contract is illiquid and does not provide reliable pricing data
  • The strike price is likely far from commonly traded contracts or the expiration very short

How to fix the error

  • Select an option contract that shows both bid and ask prices in the option chain
  • Choose strike prices closer to the current underlying price
  • Select expiration dates with more days to expiry
  • Avoid deep out-of-the-money or short-dated contracts with low volume
